Auction Information
If you have an interest in helping us create a classroom project for the Spring Gala and Auction please email me. I would love to have a few parents to help our class create a great item!
The Auction Committee is looking for items for this year's auction. Please ask your friends, family, and local vendors for donation items to put up for auction. Items must be submitted by February 24th. Items can be submitted to the main office or contact Sue Bowman at sue@urbaintailz.com or Shreya Gupta at sg0906@yahoo.com if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. For more information please check out http://www.nettelhorst.org/getinvolved.cfm?subpage=579806.
Please continue to check your child's head for lice regularly. If your child is found to have lice, we will notify you. We will inspect your child before they return to the classroom. As for controlling outbreaks in the classroom, we vacuum daily, spray all cloth services with a protective spray, and remind students to not allow their head to come in contact with someone else's. Lice are most likely to spread form direct head-to-head contact. They are not jumpers and cannot survive long without a host (your child's head). If you find lice on your child, please notify me so I can inform the other parents.
Please continue to follow our winter morning entry, all students are to be dropped off in the auditorium by 8:55 am. Students will be released from the auditorium to walk up to our room at the first bell. Please do not send your child directly to the room. Our afternoon dismissal will depend on the weather, so please check posted signs. If it is indoor pickup we will be in the auditorium until 3:15 pm. DO NOT COME TO THE THIRD FLOOR. If you need your child early, go straight to the office. They will notify me that you are ready to pick-up your child from the office. With 28 students, I need every parent to assist with an orderly arrival and dismissal. Thanks so much for your help.
A little about Room 319's Classroom Economy:
This year we will participate in a year long classroom economy. Your child has participated in discussions about what an economy is, how we earn money, why some people earn different amounts, and the choices we make to spend or save money. We have only just begun our discussions and will continue to learn more as the year progresses. Students will earn salaries, have a credit & debit system where their behavior and choices in the classroom can help them either gain or lose money, and we will also have a class store.
A classroom economy is more than an incentive program, along the way students will learn valuable real world applications of having a job, being held responsible for the quality of work they produce, earning money, going to the bank, making change, and how to spend or save the money they make. Throughout the year our economy will help us discuss larger issues in our country and world around us.
Please talk with your child about our economy and look for updates throughout the year on our classroom website. If you would like to make a donation to our class store please let me know(small items from the dollar store are great additions! fun pencils, erasers, small trinkets, etc).
