About our Library Media Center

Vision

Nettelhorst Library The Library Media Center serves as a integral part of Nettelhorst School's educational program and is the information hub of the school. A certified school library media specialist administers the library program and provides Information Literacy education through collaboration with classroom teachers. Library services promote a love of reading, support and enrich the curriculum and encourage life-long learning.

Mission

The mission of the Nettelhorst Library Media Center is to provide its patrons access to age-appropriate information in various formats, promote a love for reading, and develop effective and efficient users of ideas and information.

Goals

The Nettelhorst Library Media Center will:

  • Provide an inviting environment that supports the curriculum and facilitates learning.
  • Provide scheduling that best meets student and faculty needs.
  • Provide an organized, up to date collection, and technologies that support the curriculum.
  • Provide materials that reflect the interests of its patrons and encourage multiculturalism.
  • Provide activities that expose students to a variety of genres, authors, and illustrators.
  • Provide opportunities for collaboration with classroom teachers to integrate information literacy skills and technologies with the curriculum.
  • Provide activities that promote leisure reading.
  • Provide information literacy and technology training to students, faculty, and parents.
  • Provide a learning environment that develops effective and efficient users of ideas and information.

Monday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
Tuesday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
Wednesday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
Thursday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
Friday: 7:30am to 2:30pm

Online Public Access Catalog

The library media center is automated, providing an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). OPAC provides resources to teachers, students and parents, and may be accessed from school or home by clicking here. Over 10,000 items are cataloged, including more than 4,000 print materials.
