Artreach Mixed Media  3:15-4:15  2nd-4th  grade

Each week, students will focus on various multi-media and free-build sculpture classes.  Incorporating clay, metal, fabrics, wood and all manner of found objects! Students will explore the idea of space and texture while experimenting with various mediums most professional artists use themselves while discovering  new methods of creating using everyday materials and recyclables! Large scale Papier-Mache Costumes, buildings, sculpture and clay- How 'bout Flying machines and Kinetic Art? Everything is possible! $ 95 materials included

 

Origami 1     3:15-4:15   K-2nd grade

Learn the ancient art of Origami. Students will learn basic folding techniques to create artistic sculptures and build coordination skills. You’ll be amazed at the number of things you can create without using scissors! $ 70  materials included. Please note: this class is 6 weeks long- No classes on April 13th.

 

Yogini  Bubbles Yoga 3:15-4:15  PK-K

Join the Bubbles Academy staff at Nettelhorst for this imaginative and exciting one hour yoga class focusing on stretching the arms, legs, bodies and minds! Each week we will explore yoga and movement through games, songs, dances and imaginative adventures. At the end of each class we will have a relaxation period, teaching our young yogi and yogini's how to calm their minds and their bodies. $ 95


Enchanted Musical Forest – Drama 3:15-4:15 PK-K

Introduce your favorite young singer to the magical world of musical theatre. Embark on a journey of songs from enchanted shows like Into The Woods, Cinderella, Peter Pan and more! Our professionals will teach students the basics of singing techniques, along with lots of fun musical instruments. $ 80

Cabaret Theatre Slam! 3:15-4:15 1st-5th grade

Show off your skills in this cabaret-style class where the focus will be on short acts featuring song, dance, poetry, theatre and more! This class will highlight the talents of each student and will culminate in a final cabaret show on the last day of class. $ 80

Improv Club 4:15-5:00 6th-8th grade

This risk taking class will focus on improvisation, sketch comedy, slapstick and more! You’ll learn what makes improv scenes click and how those actors on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” make it look so easy. This is one of our most popular classes so you won’t want to miss out! Quick thinking, give and take, trusting your ensemble, and confidence are the name of the game. You’ll get to perform your improv games on the last day of class in a final performance. $ 80

Fairytale Ballet 2:45-3:30 PK-K
Our curriculum progresses naturally through each level. These Fairytale Ballet classes showcase ballet basics as well as creative movement and musical rhythms. We'll showcase the pure joy of movement while your child learns proper French terminology, correct body placement and classroom etiquette. $ 120 Please note: this class is 6 weeks long- No class April 13th.

Ballet/Tap Combo 3:30-4:30 K-1st grade
The same magical ballet experience as above with the added bonus of a 15 minute tap extension. Instructors use imaginative imagery to teach fundamental tap steps in a fun way while reinforcing rhythm, counting and strength. Tap shoes are not required, “party” or hard-soled dress shoes work fine! $ 120 Please note: this class is 6 weeks long- No class April 13th.

Magazine Club 3:15-4:15 5th-8th grade

Jane’s Place Open Gym Fun Time  10:45-12:15   20 months-4 years
Toddlers play games, crawl through tunnels, bounce balls, and have a great time. Parents & Caregivers: come in from the cold and make new friends. Mandarin Chinese  3:15-4:15   PK-1st  grade  Tuesdays & Thursdays

Minimum number of students: 6 Maximum number of students: Little Linguists Academy's classes are taught by native Chinese speakers who have many years of experience teaching children. The first part of each class will be conducted 100% in Chinese. During the last 10 minutes, simple Chinese characters are taught and explained in English. Children will learn in a fun, interactive and enjoyable environment through song, arts and crafts, games and body movement. This course is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is 16 classes total. $ 210

Goal is to build a foundation of movement skills that build exercise adherence and prepare the student for higher levels of fitness and sport training as they develop. Beginning and Intermediate Knitters! Learn to knit or crochet for the first time or advance from scarves to easy hand-warmers, leg-warmers, funky hats, crochet squares, afghans. NEW!! Step on the One! Luna Negra Dance Theater is a Latino contemporary dance company which combines Latino movement themes and contemporary dance techniques. In the Introduction to Latin Dance Class students will have fun while learning the teaching the basics of salsa, bachata, bomba, and modern dance techniques. Class will focus primarily on latin movement and technique. Dance and music are a marriage, and therefore a strong emphasis will be placed on music and rhythm. Students will have a deeper understanding and appreciation for latin, music, dance, and culture by the end of this course. Full Kit Drumming 3:15-4:15 2nd-5th grade

Students will enjoy learning about the basics of playing the drums and develop the necessary skills to play the drum-set. This fun group setting gives students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of rhythm and technique while surrounded by their peers. Counting games, clapping exercises and singing are some of the tools we will use to emphasize good learning skills while maintaining a fun atmosphere, and will prepare them to continue on in private instruction if desired. Mosaic Madness 3:15-4:15 1st-8th grade

NEW!! The class will explore the medium of mosaic. We will revel in a wide, wide range of materials, exploring color, contrast, pattern and texture as we go. Two personal projects will be created; possibilities are a garden stone, mirror, clock, plant pot or anything else the student can think of. We will also make a group effort to create a permanent Nettelhorst mosaic installation. We may also branch out into the parallel world of collage. There are no materials that are not allowed! From understanding our material, cutting and breaking our own tiles or pottery and slopping on some grout we will have great fun. $ 85 plus $ 20 materials fee to instructor

Each week, students will focus on various multi-media and free-build sculpture classes. Incorporating clay, metal, fabrics, wood and all manner of found objects! Students will explore the idea of space and texture while experimenting with various mediums most professional artists use themselves while discovering new methods of creating using everyday materials and recyclables! Large scale Papier-Mache Costumes, buildings, sculpture and clay- How 'bout Flying machines and Kinetic Art? Everything is possible! $ 110 materials included


Jewelry Making 3:15-4:15 3rd-8th grade

Design & create your own jewelry! Add your own personalized touch to earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings. Both beading and wirework techniques will be examined. $95 materials included. Please note: this class is 7 weeks long- No classes on April 17th.

New!! Start saving up your school mementos and photos to make a scrapbook of memories! Beginning in the spring session, Ms.Kupec will help 3rd-8th grade students sort and organize their memorabilia and show them how to organize a scrapbook of their year(s) at Nettelhorst! Individual Lessons - Mr. O’Connell Guitar or Piano 3:15-5:15 K-8th grade
30 minute lessons available everyday (after 4:15 on Thursdays)
Mr. O’C has several years teaching experience in guitar (all levels) and piano (beginners). Lessons will focus on developing a good ear, learning to read music, and having fun! Contact Mr. O’C directly at brendan@elisoul.com to schedule a time slot. $25 per 30 minute lesson

Individual Lessons- John Smillie Drums 3:15-5:15 1st-8th grade
30 minute lessons available by appointment
These one on one lessons are designed for students who may be above the beginner level, or who simply prefer the private instruction to the group lessons. Students can expect to learn proper technique and fundamentals through use of both the snare drum and drum set. We will learn and play snare drum solos and exercises, the basic rudiments of drumming, and drum set rhythms from popular songs of their choosing. John Smillie is a local rock/indie/jazz drummer who currently plays with bands Information Superhighway and Eli Jones.
Required Materials: Drum Practice Pad, Drum Sticks (5A recommended size), Practice Pad Stand (optional) $30-40 approximate cost. To schedule lessons, please contact John at jsmillie23@gmail.com $25 per 30 minute lesson
